What's Ux Design?

User Experience (UX) design is the process design teams use to create products that provide meaningful and relevant experiences to users. This involves the design of the entire process of acquiring and integrating the product, including aspects of branding, design, usability and function.

1Research brief

Pinpoint Core Features

I combine pre-existing data and field research to get a full picture of the potential client we are designing for.

//Core steps

1 Review what the current website/application has to offer

2 Interview existing users to look for opportunities

3 Competitor Research

The goal is to pinpoint the core features needed for the best product and start drafting some personas in the next step.

2User personas

Who/What/Why

The user persona is a key item in UX that defines the target user and gives solid guidelines for designers to look back to for ideas and what should and should not be implemented. The process goes a little like this...

Ex. Task

Once this process has even completed for each persona, it is possible to refine what content is needed for the product. I will then begin the next step of working out the Information + Architecture + Site Maps + Beginning Paper Prototypes.

"Caitlyn, is a 22 year old go-getter who likes eating artisan salads on her lunch break"

Ex. Persona

"Caitlyn likes to pre-order the moroccan lamb salad via the app on the phone as it saves her time between meetings"

Prototypes + Wireframing

After paper prototypes I move on to wire framing, user testing and plenty of iterating. Wireframes typically go through many stages and revisions before moving on to the final version to assure optimal UX.

The Look and Feel

Its important that glittery aspects of design don't cover up the true users experience. Taking care to craft each and every design, perfectly wrapping around underlying UX assures that your users will want to come back time and time again.

The icing on the cake

+Usability testing & Beyond

With the visual design in place, there is now a working prototype of the product which can be fully usability tested by participants who match the identified personas we created In step 2.

Several rounds of testing could take place before the design is right. Once it is, the new product is ready to go into development. I will also be overseeing meetings and product developments to make sure its exactly how we created it, not to hinder the users experience.
